Abstract: The purpose of this study is to design a framework for global strategic alliance in emerging market context. It tries to identify the importance of alliance in emerging market scenario to sustain competitiveness, and as an important mode of entry by multinational companies. Building on theoretical concepts from resource based view, transaction economy rationale, and socioeconomic network theories, the study identifies simple framework of strategic alliance in emerging market context. The study identified the importance of clearly defined purpose and objective selection of partners as response to the environmental change in emerging markets to sustain competitiveness. It also re-introduces the concept of ‘alliance synergy’ and relates it to the performance of alliance.
