Abstract: The study proposed to try and determine the relation between' the spread between the E/P ratio and interest rates' and stock market returns in India. Stock rates' and stock market returns in India. Stock market return at time point t, say Rt, was simply defined as Rt= log(Pt) - log(Pt); Where Pt is a stock price .............(1) The interest rates used were the daily call money market rates.
