dc.description.abstract | During the last decade, MBA (or its equivalent) has become one of the most popular degrees/diplomas among students. More and more students are opting for courses in management. Consequently, the number of institutions offering such courses is increasing every year. In the recent past, government allowed the private educational entrepreneurs to set up management schools, and there is mushrooming growth of management institutes. lt is critical to ensure that this growth does not impair the quality of output. Taking note of this, in 1997, AICTE took the task of revising the Norms and Standards of management education, published in 1990. Management education may be considered as more effective, if the programme helps participants in developing analytical, conceptual and problem identification skills. The literature on managerial effectiveness highlights the skills’ and qualities that are required to begin effective manager. A variety of teaching techniques may be required to develop different skills and attitudes, and faculty plays an important role in helping the participants in developing the required skills and qualities. The present study was designed to explore the kind of skills the management education system had helped in developing. The study could identify certain skills and qualities that the system helped students in developing. Further, the infrastructure facilities, the faculty profile and inputs at the selected institutes were also examined. | en_US |
