Abstract: Organizations now days are seeking ways and means to improve their performance to survive in the field and to combat the competition. One source of introducing new technology; up gradation, and rationalization of existing automation which is most important is the Manpower (human resources) in the organisation. Human resources has high power and can change the dimensions of the organisation if it is properly utilized. It is not the machines but the people who bring the change in the organisation. But question arises how skillfully the human resources are utilized to increase efficiency. What are the techniques used is very indispensable. HRM increases the performance of the organisation by modifying the work systems, the work systems are examined by its processes. HRM practices were perceived as discovering and strengthening the strengths of individual employees and groups in the organisation. It satisfied the employees’ needs by reward systems. A major objective of HRM in any organisation is to ensure flexibility in workplace, commitment to the job and team work. Individually some employees may not be strong but as a group they are excellent due to team work. Team work has become familiar language to some extent in industrial and service sectors viz., Public, Private and Co-operative sector. Specifically in Co-operative Banks Teamwork among employees is highly indispensable to cater the variety of needs of its members and customers. In any organisation, employees are governed by the human resource management systems ma practices. However, the linkage between HRM Systems and Teamwork was not examined in Co-operative Banks. Hence an attempt is being made to study the role of HRM Systems in influencing Teamwork in a Co-operative Bank. Following are the research objectives set for the study. These are: 1) To identify a set of HRM System variables which would influence the team work of employees. 2) To identify a set of l-[RD climate variables which would influence the teamwork of employees. 3) To identify a set of individual characteristics variables which would influence the team work of employees. Following are the findings of the study. In total, l-{RM System is influencing teamwork in this organisation. Among HRM System variables training and feedback are influencing the teamwork. Selection and Reward has not shown significant relationship with teamwork. Training was correlated with teamwork. The training programmes helped the employees to update and review their knowledge and skills; and as a result teamwork developed among the employees. Feedback mechanism in the organisation helped the employees to improve and made the people aware of their strengths and weaknesses which in turn increased the teamwork among the employees in the organisation. _ People in the organisation were not happy with the monetary reward system in the organisation. Among the HRD Climate variables, Role clarity influenced the teamwork separately and not along with other variables. Regarding the Individual Characteristics variables it was found that there is great amount of Trust developed among the employees. Finally, it was found that employees are risk averse.
