dc.description.abstractABSTRACT Measuring functional size for new developments, enhancement projects and existing applications require different approaches and pose different challenges. In our report we have concentrated mostly on the application to new developments. Out of the numerous techniques available for software size estimation, we studied the function point analysis methods currently used for software size estimation and selected three methods for our analysis. The methods used were Mark II UFPUG94, IFPUG v 4.0 and a Component Based Method(CBO) proposed by Verne and Tate. We applied these methods to a sample ease study on a Hotel MIS Application and estimated the size of the required software system. We have also analyzed and compared the results obtained from these different methods.en_US
