Abstract: This report is an in-depth study of the Computer Industry, in India. It highlights specifically the macro environment of the computer industry, the major companies operating in the hardware, Software, peripherals and training market and the various products offered by these companies. Accordingly, Part A deals with the macro environment, Part B deals with the companies and Part C with the markets. The concluding chapter focusses on the emerging trends in the computer industry and the state of the industry in the 1990's. The data for the report is collected from books, journals and computer magazines as well as from company and product brochures. Interviews with company executives have also provided useful insights. The computer industry today is on the verge of a boom and the future of the industry is bright and exciting. Changes are jaking place fast in this industry. This report therefore becomes. useful in understanding and keeping- track with this fast-paced growth.
