dc.description.abstractIn today’s world the customer can be anywhere across the globe with needs the accessibility and availability of products & services. The consumer expectations are changing. There are expectations of good experience with a product or a service and have greater liberty to move to the next product or service. The express industry is experiencing growth and requires more manpower to fulfill the distribution requirements. Challenges faced by the industry include matching with the rising expectations of the customer, expanding the network to uncovered areas, containing rising fuel and freight costs and reduction of attrition among express service employees. The profile of a delivery boy ranges from picking up and delivering documents, messages, packages and various other products and deliver it to a different location. They are exposed to seasonal variations and includes day / night working hours. Their average age is 20 – 30 years and have a tough job of carrying 40 kgs or more. The study focuses on the health issues of these courier boys. The study is conducted from the perspective of the external customers, employer and the employees (Part a, b and c). Doctors are seeing young individuals with complaints of neck pain, strained shoulder muscles and backache which is profession related and due to carrying heavy backpacks daily, and extreme working conditions.en_US
