dc.description.abstractAbstract The objective of this paper is to find the typical leadership traits of a leader in the relatively less structured army (Special Forces) fighting the relatively undefined unseen but determined enemy (counter insurgency). Effort is also made to analysis the personal leadership qualities of the Special forces officers and its relevance to the business world. Special forces do not follow the strict hierarchical structure blindly. Today that is an outmoded. Inaccurate model to follow in business or in war. The structural and the individual characteristics which came out prominently in the study pointed to a more amorphous. The armies that will win in the future – and by extension those organizations that will wage successful campaigns of any kind .Whether thy’re commercial military or otherwise –will be those that marshal creative solutions in ambiguous circumstances and the has to be capable to adapt to the changing situation. The teachings of Sun Tzu of defeating enemy without actually fighting it might be more relevant in today’s world . Hence the leaders today need to use unconventional tactics to lead in their respective businesses . Thus the organization chosen for this study is the most unconventional part of the highly structured Indian Army. The results of the study show that everyone wants the same things in life : to be recognized to be cared for and to be given an opportunity to grow . A good leader is the one who recognizes this and uses this to achieve the organizational goals.en_US
