dc.description.abstractIn today’s global economy, the importance of oil and gas cannot be underestimated.Oil and gas today aren’t just precious sources of energy; they have become drivers of political and military strategy for many nations.This report studies Russia-an important source of oil and gas to the world.It studies the oil and gas industry of Russia,the major companies and trends in production and exports.It charts the growth and political changes that have happened in Russia and examines how the changes have affected the oil industry.Russia post Communism has been politically driven by the actions of rich oligarchs.The prominent persons in the oil industry and their actions have also been analyzed.Oligarchs have been closely associated with the he Oil and Gas industry.It has been Vladimir Putin,the President of Russia for the last eight years who has imposed his authority on the Russian political and business scene.His actions and methods of using Russia’s oil and gas as instruments of domestic and foreign policy have been studied.The report concludes with the implications of Russia’s actions and the recent politically developments in Russia.en_US
