For over 20 years, i have read articles in newspapers and magazines by Indian academicians, mostly academic administrators, habitually bemoaning the 'absence' of quality education in the country. They have periodically expressed their concerns such as falling standards of education and students, breakdown in the teaching-learning processes, lack of research, lack of industry-academia interaction, lack of infrastructure, etc. Since the concerns expresses have persisted over time it is rather disappointing to conclude that nothing much seemed to have happend in the last two decades to redress these issues. Isn't that surprising?en_US
