Abstract: A heuristic model based DSS was developed to select a set of land fill sites (LFS) and an assignment of urban local bodies (ULBs) to the selected LFS such that the total ton-km of solid waste transported from ULBs to the assigned LFS is minimized while ensuring that: (a) total solid waste transported to each selected LFS is greater a specified quantity and (b) maximum distance to be transported is less than or equal to a specified distance.
