Abstract: This paper aims at examining the effect of religious connotation or priming on the behavior of individuals. Through the experiment conducted during this study an attempt is made to understand if religious priming contributes to an increase in altruistic behavior. The behavior is tested through a prisoner’s dilemma question and the effect is measured by the difference in the amount of responses deviating from the dominant strategy i.e. if due to the religious priming are the individuals able to evade the prisoner’s dilemma to reach a more socially optimal outcome.
