Abstract: | The report examines the concept of secondary airports in the United States of America (USA). In our study, secondary airports are commercial airports in addition to the primary (main) airports present in the metropolitan areas under consideration. New York/New Jersey, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami, Washington D.C. and Chicago have been considered since they carry bulk of the US traffic. The comparative cost benefit analysis of the secondary airports over the 10-year period between 2005 and 2014 would indicate their performance and trends. The economic and operational performances of secondary airports can be inferred from the analysis. Keywords: Secondary airports, passenger traffic, metropolitan areas |
