Abstract: This article describes the implementation challenges of admissions and inclusion of children from disadvantaged and economically weaker sections mandated under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE Act), 2009, in India. It also highlights the role of students and community volunteers and new forms of citizen engagement in implementing such mandates.
