The highly contentious airport project is a critical case that well illustrates diverse stakeholder interests from the public and private sector. The history of a new airport for Nantes (France) is well woven into the changing regulation and more recent privatization of airport management through concessions. The organization of air traffic involving significant amounts of sunk costs raises further questions regarding the financial benefits and their sustainability in the long run.en_US
