With multiple policies, state level regulations and acts, the current policy framework for organ donations in India is too opaque and thus prone to misuse and mismanagement causing intolerable delays. Organ donation in itself a is a major challenge in India due to our sheer size, population and affordability issues. The previous study carried out a detailed analysis of the current policies in the organ donation system and search for a centralized solution involving all stakeholders. The issue with organ donation is not only about addressing these infrastructural issues but also about understanding the awareness amongst people and getting more people to donate. Various studies have shown that lack of awareness related to the organ donation is the crucial factor for reduced number of organ supply. The pre-requisites for the success of a transplantation can be increase in awareness, positive attitude of people towards organ donation and consent by relatives for organ donation in cases of Brain Death. Thus, there is a need to examine and analyse the knowledge, attitude and practice of people at large regarding organ donation, which in turn will help us understand the factors which can lead to increase in the number of organ donation, factors related to the attitude, behaviour among people, prior knowledge of families in deciding the consent for organ donation.en_US
