This report uses NSSO round 68 data as a primarily analysis tool, and with a state-wise comparative study, tries to draw significant insights about the inequalities in the household consumption. Moreover, the report also tries to investigate the appliance wise consumption pattern across states and to examine if that analysis can serve as an element to justify the consumption behavior in the various states and union territories. The results of the report intend to be used as an extension for future forecasting of electricity consumption pattern with an updated data set. The report shall start with a review of the literature about the works done in past, and a simultaneous identification of the approaches that can best suit our line of research. This shall further lead into development of a systematic and well structured methodology as the data in such government surveys are could be extremely disturbed, unfriendly and difficult to handle and control. With the development of a systematic methodology, we would try to study the practical aspects of the same, and then conduct the actual analysis with the data obtained in a simplified format by using the data analysis software R, so as to obtain the above-mentioned state-wise and appliance wise results. A pictorial representation of those results help us visualize the disparities across states better. A cross examination approach for every assertion has been implemented throughout the research work, and limitations as well as future scope have been studied in the end.en_US
