dc.description.abstractIn June 1974, Central Electronics Limited (CEL) was opened with an objective to commercially exploit the indigenous technologies developed by National Laboratories and R&D Institutions in the country under administrative control of the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology, and Government of India. It was given a status of a Central Public Sector Enterprise and was incorporated as a Private Limited Company. CEL initially started off with 2 key business verticals, Solar Photovoltaics and Railway Signalling systems. CEL hold rights of many firsts in Indian Solar Business including manufacturing of India’s First Solar Cell in 1977 and India’s First Solar Panel in 1978 and installation India’s first solar power plant in 1992. For Railway Signalling Systems, CEL has collaborated with IIT Delhi, RDSO etc to develop a wide range of products for Railway safety and signalling systems.en_US
