The constitutional law of Nepal

Abstract

Nepal is bounded on the north by the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China and in the south by the Indian States of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. To its east lie the Indian States of Sikkim and West Bengal and to its west is the new Uttarakhand State in the Union of India. Due to its strategic location, between the world’s most populous democracy and the world’s most populous communist country, Nepal is host to international influences beyond its proximate neighbourhood. Due to the porosity of its southern border based on a treaty with India, Nepal and India are widely regarded as a contiguous economic territory for movement of goods, services, capital, people, workers, and for trade and investment. The time in Nepal is calculated from the Indian Meridian, not Greenwich. The time in Nepal is always fifteen minutes ahead of Indian Standard Time (IST). IST calculated from the Indian Central Meridian which predates Greenwich is always 5.5 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time with no adjustment for internal time zones or seasons, summertime or wintertime.
