They create something new, something different, they change and transmute values; and on a size and scale that will impact society Peter Drucker Entrepreneurs are somewhat of a mystery, enigmatic, and exude a kind of aura about how they go about starting their venture and going big. As management students learning the art and craft of business, this enigma about how to create a successful and sustainable business becomes even more profound. The study of Entrepreneurs becomes essential as it is a crucial driver of the economic development of any country. With increased entrepreneurship, critical drivers of the economy, such as increased employment, development of infrastructure, finance, and investing, are improved. Hence, the study of successful and unsuccessful entrepreneurs becomes essential as they accept the risks and uncertainties associated with the business. The key characteristics that describe this entrepreneurial journey include: 1) the economic activity driving the venture, 2) The ability to innovate and derive a commercial enterprise from the innovation, 3) Ability to address key stakeholder issues, and 4) Tackling risks and uncertainties. |
