dc.description.abstract | Ceat Tyres has initiated the Track-n-Trace project for tracking its inventory through various levels of the supply chain. The major motivations for the project were as follows: • Vehicle level tracking of goods - this holds importance due to multiple reasons: o Currently, sender and receiver rely on transport vendor for delivery related updates o Low visibility over detention times inside the plant – the time is chargeable as per transporter contracts o Delays/discrepancies in freight payments o Human dependency in the time-stamping process • Inventory / Asset level tracking – this level has below sub-motivations: o Enabling the FIFO system for issue of inventory o Counter mismatches, shortages, and excesses o Easing up the physical verification process for inventory o Tracking the complete history of a product o Enabling product recalls in case of failed product tests | en_US |
