Abstract: Diversity and Inclusion for LGBTQ+ community in the corporate workspace started officially with the Section 377 amendment in late 2018. Before that, some companies were working towards inclusion, but, after the 2018 amendment, corporates started changing their policies. This could have been done either to celebrate the amendment or to project themselves as inclusive. In India, a lot of Indian companies as well as MNCs are working towards making their policies LGBTQ+ inclusive. In this study, we intend to examine how much progress have the Indian companies made in this regard. We wish to do this by gauging employee perception of policies and benefits, communication and engagement to determine whether enough is being done by the top performing companies in the inclusion index. We find that companies high on all the three parameters are actually pushing a lot of policies and awareness amongst employees to create a truly diverse workspace. We also recommend some initial steps based on our insights from company employees.
