Abstract: Ummeed is a platform for teaching basic life skills to specially-abled children (Down syndrome, autism etc.) to give them an opportunity for a meaningful learning experience. While the ed-tech companies have focused on mass education, the needs of specially-abled children have been completely ignored leaving a gap that can be explored in the market. The startup will complement the learnings provided to these children in special schools enabling them to lead a better and normal life. By providing services in the form of learning modules, standardized tablets etc. the startup aims to bridge the gap of providing valuable and fun filled learning for the special kids who have largely been ignored while the learning across the world have changed with the advent of ed-tech. These kids have aspirations and with personalized learning, they can get the required skills for doing well in life. Most of the kids are capable of doing well in a specific field if allowed to nurture in the specific way. The platform aims to provide this personalized teaching to the kids so that they can learn at their own pace (deciding on the convenient pace based on percentage disability) and become self sufficient in doing the chores important in their life. Also, this would enable the special children to come at a level of other children from where they can even proceed to continue their education in general schools with other students.
