Abstract: The Indian Government via the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade announced its Consolidated FDI Policy Circular of 2020. In addition to the earlier restrictions, the new circular incorporates restrictions on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from countries whore borders with India to prevent opportunities takeovers created due to the devastating effect of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic (India Briefing, 2020). The countries under scrutiny are Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Bangladesh but the main target is China.
