Abstract: | Businesses can purchase expert counsel from consulting firms. The first consulting firm started in 1886 with Arthur Little that focused only on technical research. Later in 1914, Booz Hamilton was born that served both industry and government clients. The consulting sector went through phases of modernization, and the first firm to formalize management consulting business was titled to McKinsey & Company. To "consult" is to ask for guidance from someone who knows a particular subject; this person is referred to as a "consultant." Typically, professionals are assumed to be consultants. By 1980, consulting industry and consultants occupied a significant role in the board decisions on strategic decisions. Some examples are management consultants, strategists, IT consultants, personal health consultants, career consultants, and gardening consultants |
