Abstract: In 2015, the United Nations designed a blueprint containing 17 goals to attain a sustainable future, which are intended to be achieved by 2030. The SDGs were accepted by all the UN member countries, including India, in 2015, and NITI Aayog has been assigned the responsibility to monitor the achievement of these goals. There has been a significant overlap on the activities mentioned in Schedule VII of the Companies Act, 2013 and the SDGs for India, due to which SDGs have become a popular framework for reporting social responsibility activities by corporates. This project will help us explore how Indian corporates make claims regarding the contribution to SDGs and the implications thereby caused.
