A major trend change that was observed in the last 5 decades is that consumption has increased in the smaller towns and cities as the metro cities continue to consume it at a higher rate. Tier-II towns like Jaipur, Surat, Lucknow, Coimbatore, and Chandigarh have seen the quickest development, while Tier-III cities like Kohima, Davangere, Hisar, Khorda, and Bhatinda have the largest basket size, according to a study performed by the site Thatspersonal.com last year. Even among them there is a trend of increasing purchases made by women.en_US
