Abstract: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was formed in the year 1963 and since then has been involved in investigating cases related to murder, terrorism, corruption, and so on. Over the years, the institute has faced backlash from the general public and even termed a “caged parrot” by the Supreme Court of India because of being extremely politically influenced. The working of the CBI has been hampered by this, and the inquiries have become skewed leading to delayed and unjust decisions. The report analyses a few cases with respect to CBI and highlights the wrongdoings in them. Finally, recommendations on ways to improve the functioning of the institute are given.
