dc.description | Through this project course, we aim to analyse the nuances, similarities, and differences in the Indian and Turkish cultures from the perspective of human resources management. For this, we look at the depiction of various facets of the prevalent cultures of both countries as represented in the epics told through the means of two television series. The Mahabharata is an esteemed Indian epic that recounts the story of familial conflict between two factions of kin, specifically the Pandavas and the Kauravas. The epic contains a wide range of teachings related to human behaviour, ethical ideals, and the practice of leadership. The Mahabharata is a complex and sophisticated piece of literature that allows for a wide range of interpretations. It offers valuable insights into the intricacies and possibilities related to human resource management when viewed from that lens. The family tree discussed in Mahabharata has been showcased in Annexure 2 hereinbelow. Muhteşem Yüzyıl, also known as Magnificent Century, is a Turkish television series that falls under the genre of historical fiction. The subject matter pertains to the historical narrative surrounding the life of Suleiman the Magnificent, who had the longest tenure as Sultan within the Ottoman Empire. The show explores the life of Hürrem Sultan, a woman of slave origin who ascended to the esteemed position of the first Ottoman Haseki Sultan. Furthermore, it brings attention to the historical period commonly referred to as the Sultanate of Women. Magnificent Century chronicles the tenure of Suleiman the Magnificent, often regarded as the most renowned sovereign of the Ottoman Empire. As Suleiman's power and influence expand and intensify, it impacts various individuals within the imperial household. These include Pargalı Ibrahim Pasha (a close friend and advisor), Hafsa Sultan (Suleiman's mother and the first Valide Sultan), Hatice Sultan (Suleiman’s sister), Mahidevran Sultan (mother of Suleiman's eldest son), and Hürrem Sultan (Haseki Sultan in Suleiman's court). All members of the Imperial Family are listed in Annexure 1 hereinbelow. | en_US |
