Abstract: India and France are two great countries with deep interconnectedness. Both are shaped by diverse political, linguistic, religious, and social influences that enrich their cultural identities. India represents the cultural vibrancy of the Indian subcontinent, while France embodies the artistic and intellectual legacy of Europe. In the contemporary era, web series have emerged as powerful storytelling mediums that explore complex cultural and societal themes. These shows span a range of genres—from historical epics to modern dramas—and offer rich portrayals of daily life, traditions, societal norms, and values in both India and France. By analyzing such content, one can gain a deeper understanding of the cultural nuances that define each region. Furthermore, these series act as conduits for promoting cross-cultural communication and understanding. This study examines two notable series: India’s “Mahabharat” and France’s “Versailles.” “Mahabharat” explores themes such as duty, righteousness, and complex familial relationships, offering valuable insights into Indian moral and cultural traditions. On the other hand, “Versailles” delves into themes of monarchy, aristocracy, and political conflict, reflecting France’s historical evolution and social structure. By comparing these two series, this analysis highlights the cultural differences between India and France. The focus lies in understanding how their themes, characters, and narratives contribute to shaping national identities and societal values.
