Authors: Sharma, Baldev R.
Issue Date: 3-Oct-1971
Citation: Indian Journal of Industrial Relations, VII, 2, (Oct 1971), 189-203
Abstract: Through an empirical study of 262 automobile workers in Bombay the author examines the factors that determine company satis faction. Although there is a positive correlation between com pany satisfaction and other measures of employee satisfaction, the two are different phenomena and are shaped by different sets of variables. While commitment to work is influenced pri marily by the content of the job, company satisfaction is shaped more by the extrinsic aspects of the job. The paper examines the relationship between company satisfaction and other measures of satisfaction and discusses its implications for managerial action.
