Authors: Sharma, Baldev R.

Citation: Indian Journal of Industrial Relations, VIII, 1, (July 1972), 83-96
Abstract: The paper attempts to measure the extent to which indus trial workers participate in the affairs of their neighbour hood and community of residence and the factors that affect such participation. The workers in the present study were highly concerned over and interested in the problems facing th??r neighbourhood and community of residence. However, their actual community involve ment was rather low. Whatever community involvement the workers did show was associated only with level of education and socio-economic status, while several other factors failed to predict community involvement. The author explores the reasons for the low level of commu nity involvement and also for its relatively low predict ability. The implications of these findings are also discussed.
