Authors: Mampilly, Paul

Abstract: Budgeting aims drawing up a programme of business performance and ensuring its implementation as per schedule. Such a programme should naturally cover all major items of business such as advances, deposits and profits and should be commensurate to (a) the potentials and possibilities the environment in which the branch operates offers, and (b) the expectations and policies of the bank, and should take into consideration the capacity, expertise and experience of the branch on the one hand and competition from other similar institutions on the other. In order that the programme or the budget framed is actually performed or attained the absolute requirements of facilities and staff would also have to form part of such budget.
