Abstract: The financial anatomy of the business systems is examined and a theoretical frame to understand and measure a) how the activities of business systems consume and generate funds, b) what stock of funds needs to be conserved from time to time to enable the system to perform a given rate of activities, c) what are the determinants of such a stock of funds, and d) how and at what rate and point of time the system could let out surplus or will need injections Of further funds, is developed in qualitative terms. The implications of the theoretical framework are examined and discussed.
