The case centres around correspondence between three middle managers of an organization -- Holiday Planners and Resorts Ltd. The manager who initiated the correspondence was supposed to be coordinating a particular project. The other two managers were expected to contribute to the project, though they belonged to a different division. The correspondence is given in the exhibits. While the organization is divided into functional divisions, a lot of work is done by interdisciplinary project teams. The organization is of recent origin (six years old), not too large (about 100 employees), and employs mostly young people (average age: 27 years).en
