Abstract: This case describes the situation faced by the Communication Systems Group (CNSG) of ECIL, a multiproduct, multidivisional company. This Group is one of ECIL’ ‘s most important Groups in terms of turnover and in terms of the importance of the product. CNSG is in the business of communication equipment, including antennae and is one of the most profitable Groups of ECIL. The communication equipment industry is a fast growing and nationally vital industry. The Group has many opportunities in different areas such as electronic warfare equipment and fax machines. CNSG would like to become a subsidiary of ECIL. The case focuses on the alternatives open to CNSG.
