Abstract: | This case traces the various tasks the newly appointed Chairman undertook to increase the operational efficiency of the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation. After assessing the problems of the Corporation, especially after a recently ended strike, the Chairman stated that his primary objective would be to turn around the financial condition of the Corporation so that it becomes a profitable venture. The case describes how there was an improvement in financial results and efficiency parameters by strengthening the depots and introducing various profit based incentive schemes, thereby indicating an overall positive change in the work culture and dedication of employees in the organization. The case also questions the sustainability of the schemes adopted in future, and their transferability to other organizations. |
