Abstract: The year 1990-91 was a period of turbulence for Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation. The affairs of the Corporation were in a fluid state. A prolonged strike by the workers, demanding more benefits, had just ended, thereby affecting the employee morale and weakening the unions. Productivity was low and the Corporation was incurring substantial losses. In these circumstances, Mr. Kaurani, the new Chairman, is faced with the task of turning the organization around. The case describes the background of the Corporation, its performance since inception in 1964-65 to 1991, and the developments that took place during the strike period (September-November 1990). The case poses the question, as to what the Chairman should do to turn around the Corporation.
