Abstract

This case describes the major Information Technology applications in Manila Electric Company (Meralco). The case highlights the organizational context in which these applications have been developed. It discusses the scope, characteristics, computing platforms and the organizational issues involved in the implementation of these applications. It describes the changes in Manila”s IT perspective in the context of deregulation and greater competition in the electric supply and distribution market in Philippines, as well as technological changes in the computing environment.
