| Abstract: | This note summarizes the features of the following end user computing packages: 1. Spreadsheet Packages, 2. Data Management Packages, 3. Project Management Packages, 4. Presentation Software, 5. Computer-Aided Design, and 6. Multi-media Systems. In each category, wherever applicable, applications and new trends are also discussed. There is a section at the end that discusses the problems with end user computing. In the sections on Spreadsheet Packages and Data Management Packages, elaborate examples are also given. The examples and applications discussed are drawn from shipping sector. |
