| Abstract: | The case illustrates an operation management problem in a manufacturing process that involves batch production and the use of a furnace, requiring very long heat treatment time. The case allows the class to do bottleneck analysis and explore several alternatives for improving productivity and output. Finally, it also illustrates the idea of shifting bottlenecks when productivity improvements are made. |
