Abstract: Financing procurement needs advance budgeting which involves procurement price. Though price caries from day to day in a season, one needs some average price for budgeting exercise. This case on basmati paddy procurement gives information on average costs at farm, in mandi, and at processing plant and poses a problem of fixing a benchmark procurement price for the commencing season.
