dc.description.abstract | 4he general feeling about the increasing organizational inefficiency and low morals is that there is an overall lack of proper work ethic in Indian Society. There is also a general consensus of views regarding this state of affairs in both public and private sector enterprises. It is believed that worker alienation pervades Indian society resulting in passitivity and indifference towards the attainment of work objectives. Indians believe in leisure ethic or aaram culture and hence they do not value work as intrinsically satisfying. Indians develop a moral belief about goodness of work and industry, work motivation in organizaitons is not going to improve. The real reason for low work motivation is not lack of work ethic but rather unconditional job security that the employees enjoy. The threat of getting fired would spur work motivation among employees. | en |
