This paper analyses the concept of success by exploring the views executives hold about their success. The concept is given the name "idealized success" to reflect the subjective or personalized definition of success, that is, success in relation to one's own goals and objectives. Responses of 310 executives from 13 organizations encompassing textile, chemicals and fertilizers, and engineering industries have been analysed. Seven factors of idealized success, namely, Omnibus Success, "Own People" Success Archetype, Excellent Work Life, Comfortable Living, Leadership and Power, Job Prestige and Stability, and Patriotism and Altruism have been identified. The paper also presents the implications of this analysis for organizations.
