dc.description.abstractThis case study has been prepared by Lara Srivastava of the Strategies and Policy Unit of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Sidharth Sinha of the Indian Institute of Management. This study is part of a series of Telecommunication Case Studies produced under the New Initiatives program of the Office of the Secretary General of the ITU. The fixed-mobile interconnection case studies program is under the direction of Dr. Tim Kelly <tim.kelly@itu.int>, Coordinator, Strategies and Policy Unit, ITU, and is managed by Lara Srivastava <lara.srivastava@itu.int>. Other country case studies on fixed-mobile interconnection in Finland, India, Mexico and Uganda, can be found at <http://www.itu.int/interconnect>. This study is based on field research conducted between 27 March and 7 April 2000, as well as on various reports, articles and electronic correspondence. The authors are grateful to the numerous people who provided input to the report, particularly T.V. Ramachandran, Harsha Singh and T.H Chowdary (for a list of people and organizations who participated in the field research, see Annex 1).
