Title: Review of management and language: the manager as a practical author
Authors: Srinivasan, Shiva Kumar
Keywords: Management;Language
Issue Date: 26-Oct-2010
Abstract: Most managers lack the inclination to read, let alone write. Why then do the contributors to this book invoke the figure of the author to this book invoke the figure of the author to other words, author as opposed to what? The answer, clearly, is the scientist . The essays in this book attempt to show that the ideal model of managerial behaviour invoked in traditional analogy to the scientist must give way to that of the practical author . This practical author is not quite literally a writer. Instead, s/he represents a manager who is constantly multi-tasking in the frontlines.
