Rebel Foods’ Cloud Kitchen Technologies: Food for Thought?
Lahiri, Saikat; Bose, Indranil; Majumdar, Adrija
This case study examines the India based cloud kitchens and food services provider Rebel Foods’ technology
platforms. We document the development of the company from its foundation in 2004 and the role played by
technology in enabling its various lines of business. We describe in detail the technology stack that drives the
operations at Rebel Foods. We also present various emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI),
machine learning (ML), robotic process automation (RPA), blockchain, and augmented reality (AR) that may be
utilized by Rebel Foods to increase efficiency, build customer engagement, and improve sales growth and profitability.
We critically examine Rebel Foods’ current approach to technology and analyze the various technology options that
the company may consider to drive its future strategy.

Doing “Reputation” in the Indian Context: An Employee Perspective
Desai, Avani; Kaul, Asha; Chaudhri, Vidhi
Corporate reputation has been studied as an aggregate of stakeholder perceptions with
some emphasis on distinguishing among the perceptions of different stakeholder groups.
This study focuses on the perceptions of employees, a critical group of stakeholders, within
the Indian context and examines factors that inform an understanding of reputation from
an employee perspective and shares the consequences of the same. Building on existing
research conducted in developed countries, the study reveals similarities and
dissimilarities with existing reputation conceptualizations. Results reveal three new
factors, namely stakeholder connect, customer centricity, and company ethos, which are
critical to an understanding of reputation from the perspective of Indian employees. Based
on factors and attributes emerging from employee perceptions, the study proposes the
Loyalty, Engagement, Emotional Connect, and Commitment model, which highlights the
consequences of a good reputation in the Indian context.

The distortion in the EU feed market due to import constraints on genetically modified soy
Basnet, Shyam Kumar; Ghosh, Ranjan Kumar; Eriksson, Mattias; Lagerkvist, Carl-Johan
Feed importers in some EU member states face constraints on imports of genetically modified (GM) soy, a practice that may compromise the interests of EU livestock farmers. Using the cases of Sweden and Austria, we analyzed price transmission in the soy supply chain originating from Brazil, applying an asymmetric non-linear auto-regressive distributed lag (ARDL) model to identify short-run and long-run asymmetries. The results revealed significant asymmetric effects in how positive and negative price changes are absorbed within the feed industry. Notably, increases in the cost of Brazilian soy swiftly affect the prices for EU farmers, while cost reductions fail to trigger corresponding price decreases. Consequently, stronger constraints on GM soy imports are likely to exacerbate the competitiveness challenges faced by livestock farmers, primarily due to their reliance on non-GM soy. This implies that the restrictions on GM imports need to be relaxed or that low-cost local protein alternatives need to be developed.

Role of resource investment management and strategic resource deployment capabilities in internationalization-performance relationship
Purkayastha, Anish; Karna, Amit; Sharma, Sunil; Badra, Dhiman
The performance implications of internationalization have been a matter of debate in management literature for decades. Similar to developed market multinational enterprises (DMNEs), scholars found that emerging-market internationalizing firms (EMIFs) have initial costs and subsequent benefits of internationalization such that internationalization-performance (I-P) relationship is U-shaped. Emergingness of EMIFs gives us the opportunity to theorize how these internationalizing firms develop novel capabilities relevant to their state of evolution and resource conditions. Relying on resource management theory, we propose two capabilities – management of R&D investments (RIM) to balance between market and resource seeking motivations and re-deployment of strategic resources (SRD) to catch-up with the competitors. We use 20 years data from 837 Indian firms to empirically test whether the proposed capabilities steepen the I-P relationship and shift the turning point of the U-shaped curve to left. We find empirical support for our hypotheses, and thereby contribute to the literature on resource management in EMIFs and empirical analysis of non-linear relationship.
