dc.description.abstract“India has the capacity to clothe the World” announces, a front line magazine, Clothesline. Indian does enjoy a unique advantage in producing garments which is indeed a Jewel in its economy earning the country its largest net foreign exchange. The study provides a detailed picture of garment exports, the existing policies, there advantages and shortcomings as well as future strategies. The study and the data combined is based on the secondary sources like magazines, newspapers and various relevant writings. The garment exporters are supported by various government policies to earn the country’s foreign exchange and at the same time they are facing common problems like outdated machinery and unavailability of crucial items required for garment manufacturing. To enhance the export of ready-made garments, India needs to modernize and bring the better manufacturing units and revise the existing policies of import and export. The significance of this humble effort lies in presentation of overall present scenario in exports of ready-made garments as well as loopholes in the system which can be improved upon to gain maximum benefits. India, future strategy for boosting the exports has also been highlighted.en_US
