dc.description.abstractIntroduction: Most of the government hospitals in India run traditionally, therefore sustainable systems are not developed. Hospital management focuses on management principles, techniques and development of systems for effectiveness and efficiency. Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) Lucknow, a tertiary care hospital, developed innovative systems/initiatives in past and are still continuing with sustainability. Objective: To highlight outcome & sustainability of the innovative systems/initiatives developed by institute. Methodology: Outcome of systems developed and initiatives taken in five areas are being highlighted briefly. Results :(1) More than 40% saving was done from the salary head by outsourcing of human resource in addition to quantitative and qualitative improvement achieved.. (2) About to condemned oxygen concentrator was made functional by SWOT analysis, which saved Rs. 9117999 in 10 years. (3) Two innovative modals for Supply Chain Management (SCM) with sustainability, namely Hospital Revolving Fund (HRF) and Investigation Revolving Fund (IRF) are in existence. (4) Kamdhenu Society, an in-house free health care financing scheme for poor indoor patients ,has so far helped 5894 poor patients by assistance of Rs. 71822854 (5) Rs. 6.70 million was generated during 73 months by selling treated hospital solid waste & contained the cost by using recycled sterilized consumables. Conclusion: SGPGIMS is practicing modern concept of hospital management for system development & Innovative measures, which are sustainable also. Recommendation: Other hospitals should follow and also develop the sustainable management systems.en_US
