dc.description.abstractThe paper first discusses the factors important for the development of the retail industry in any country. It then attempts a quantified comparison of the retail industry of China, India, Japan & United States using proxy variable for each factor. The paper then contains a walkthrough of the development of the retail industry in China and in the United States. The paper then dives into the key factors unique to India and discusses their implications for the Indian retail industry. Finally, the paper concludes with the implications on the evolution of Indian retail industry. It also discusses the implication of the evolution of the Indian retail industry on FMCG companies.en_US
